After months-long tour through Europe and North America, the most famous Ukrainian hip-hop star Alyona Alyona is back in her native village.
When war broke out, Alyona had just started her big tour, a highlight in her musical life up to that point. She was unsure what to do. Back? Performance? She chooses to act. Music is her weapon. When her tour is over, director Elizabeth Salgado follows her on the train journey back to Ukraine.
She celebrates New Year's Eve with her parents. Rocket strikes have also turned everyday life upside down there. But still, they celebrate the turn of the year as they always have. The traditional dinner of vareniky, cucumbers, potatoes and whatever else grows in the garden is now also on the table. For a moment it seems as if the familiar 'ordinary' life eclipses the war.
